Francis Atwoli, the Secretary General of Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU), has in my occasions cracked ribs of many especially the online audience through his statements which with time, find their way to the meme files. Being a staunch Azimio La Umoja supporter, he addressed masses and assured them that the candidate of Azimio La UMoja , Raila Odinga will win elections without breaking a sweat, because of the overwhelming support that he has.  He is a Luhya. He warned supporters, and especially from this tribe against diverting their support from the norm, as it had been done by some of their leaders including Namwamba, Wetangula and Musalia, who had done so by moving to Ruto's camp. Regardless of his statements however, his candidate did not make it to into the presidency and instead his political rival won and took the day.  Moses Wetangula has won the seat for the Speaker of the National Assembly replacing Justin Muturi who had served for the last ten years. This has been announced by the Madam Clerk after Kenneth Marende withdrew from the race. Before this withdrawal, second round of election was to be conducted after both candidates failed to reach the 2/3 required threshold. After resigning from his senate seat, Wetangula is now Speaker of the 13th Parliament Papa wa Roma, as he is commonly known, has been sworn in as the 8th speaker of the National Assembly after taking the oath of office on the floor of the house. This translates him as being the third person in power in the country, after the President and the Deputy President.

 Moses Masika Wetangula who served as the Homabay senator had yet again won the hearts of the people, who then gave him another chance on 9th August to serve them. However, with different political interests, he had since resigned so that he could vie for the National Assembly Speaker position.  He has faced a strong competitor in this race,Kenneth Marende of Azimio Coalition ,who was the Speaker in the 10th Parliament. After elections which included 346 members of parliament, Moses Wetangula has led the highly contested seat after achieving 215 votes with his close competitor behind him with 130 votes and one spoilt vote. The threshold has  however not been achieved and therefore second round is underway. Moses Wetangula is the leader of FORD Kenya Party of Kenya Kwanza Coalition.

Kathuri Murungi has won the Deputy Speaker seat without an election. This is after the Azimio participant, Madzayo Mwachiru- Senator Kilifi County- quit the race.  Therefore the Speaker of the Senate, Amason Kingi, with the power bestowed unto him, had no other choice but pronounce the remaining candidate as the winner of the post since he was unopposed. Kathuri Murungi has previously served two terms to represent the people of South Imenti, Meru County in parliament. He is currently the Senator of the same county, and now, the Deputy Speaker of the fourth senate in the 13th parliament for the next five years.

Amason Kingi, who was contesting for the Speaker of the Senate in a thick race until Kalonzo Musyoka withdrew the last minute has won. Amason Kingi who is in the Kenya Kwanza divide has taken the floor with 46 votes while his other five competitors got zero votes. These competitors were; Olouch, George, Karuri, Kinyua and Njoroge For one to win this race, he or she should get two thirds of votes from all senators. In this case, we have 67 senators and therefore two thirds translates to 45 votes.  Otherwise, the voting process is to be freshly started and the one with most votes is sworn in. With 46 votes, Amason Jeffah Kingi has surpassed the threshold and therefore won the race. He has since been sworn in as the speaker of the fourth Senate in the 13th Parliament for the next five years.

 Just after all senators were sworn in on the 8th September, the next task was to elect the Speaker of the Senate in a secret ballot.  In the ballot, were Amason Kingi and Kalozo Musyoka from Kenya Kwanza and Azimio respectively. Mr. Clerk, who is moderating the sitting was just about to stir the beginning of the process when he highlighted that the Azimio candidate, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka had stepped down from the race. This saw several senators from the affiliated divide leave the Senate Chambers. Earlier, Kalonzo had submitted papers so as to vie for the the speaker of the National Assembly position but later withdrew so as to run for the Senate speaker role, which also he has withdrawn the last minute. This as come as a surprise for both Azimio and Kenya Kwanza senators  who were in the building. The election of the Speaker is however ongoing regardless of the walking out of some senators from Azimio.

The president of the United States of America sent his congratulatory message to the president elect William Ruto. In a press address by the White House Press Secretary  Karine Jean-Pierre, the Kenyan people are applauded for maintaining peace throughout the electioneering period. Moreover, all the presidential candidates are well appreciated for respecting and abiding by the rule of the Supreme Court of Kenya. "We congratulate William Ruto on his election as the president of Kenya. We also congratulate the people of Kenya on the conclusion of a peaceful electoral process. We commend Raila Odinga and other candidates for abiding by the Supreme Court filing, transparent electoral process and the peaceful adjudication of disputes",Karine Jean-Pierre White House Press Secretary said. The United States also acknowledged of its strong and great partnership with Kenya based on democracy, security ad economic prosperity. Time check is 3.30 am. I'm woken by a strange sound. The door is half open but the house lights are off. The security light from the corridors are however finding their way into our house. This means that the house is poorly lit but it's aiding vision to a big extent. Sema kimeumana!!! You know when you're in deep sleep but some sort of sound which I term  strange clicks and you're all awake? This is exactly what happened. 'Daaah'! This is what I heard and immediately I woke up. This is the sound that comes from a socket when you're unplugging an appliance from it. I woke up and since I was facing the wall side, (there are two sides; the wall side and the open space side) I turned and now my eyes are on the open space side. All this while, my friend is deep asleep. Like an angel. Now, what I saw has never left my mind up to date. An image of a tall dark rounded face man who was dressed in black is what i saw. No mask. Before elections were held, the party leader of Roots Party, Prof. George Wajackoyah- whose signature is a durag- was allegedly said to have endorsed Raila Odinga's presidency in a night club by describing him as an individual who pushed Kenya to its liberation status it is in. He said and I quote, "The man whose tears come out every day because of what happened to him in jail, including myself. I am here to join liberators. And the person I look at, the person who makes me stand here is none other Raila Odinga,” Wajackoya said. This statement earned him a title that the was a project  to minimize Ruto's votes by taking over the youths, who mostly were said to support the Kenya Kwanza Coalition. This never sat well with most of his supporters and more so, his running mate, Justina Wamae.   Monday the 5th was such an awaited day here in Kenya. The Supreme Court of Kenya was expected to give its final verdict in regards to the elections which were held on the 9th of August, 2022. From noon to past 1pm, the Chief Justice Martha Koome gave a media press which represented the judgement of the 7 judges, which saw the upholding of the results announced by the IEBC on 15th August. This was therefore a confirmation that Dr. William Samoei Ruto was chosen by the majority of Kenyans and was in deed the president elect who won by over 7 million votes and attained 50%+1 rule. After this announcement, several leaders, presidents, artists and other celebrities have sent their messages to congratulate the fifth president of Kenya, who is set to be sworn in in a weeks' time.
