Francis Atwoli, the Secretary General of Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU), has in my occasions cracked ribs of many especially the online audience through his statements which with time, find their way to the meme files. Being a staunch Azimio La Umoja supporter, he addressed masses and assured them that the candidate of Azimio La UMoja , Raila Odinga will win elections without breaking a sweat, because of the overwhelming support that he has.
He is a Luhya. He warned supporters, and especially from this tribe against diverting their support from the norm, as it had been done by some of their leaders including Namwamba, Wetangula and Musalia, who had done so by moving to Ruto's camp.
Regardless of his statements however, his candidate did not make it to into the presidency and instead his political rival won and took the day. This was confirmed by the Supreme Court of Kenya when they upheld his election as Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission had declared.
Atwoli has since gone to the grassroots to undo what he had planted- that is criticizing the President elect and the Luhya leaders who had drifted to Kenya Kwanza- and also ask people to get used to the chosen leader who will serve for the next five years. He also called out for peace which is very important for a country's growth.
"I didn't know that I would come back and ask you familiarize yourselves with William Ruto's voice. You make your plans but God is also planning his. We went to sleep knowing we had won. We really did not plan our political steps smartly. The cheers people gave were false but we believed in them. Ruto had the political skills and therefore he outsmarted us. Our father is the president elect... Our country will then move forward in a peaceful manner. More-so, our tribe is well represented with Wetangula, Namwamba and Wetangula. We have accepted the results as this was the will of God," Atwoli said.
