Vying for elective seats in Kenya is not for the faint-hearted, especially in areas where zoning is believed to be a thing.
Bahati who is looking forward to run for the M.P. seat in Mathare Constituency has taken to his socials again because of the blocks he is facing as he prepares to pocket this political position.
The angered Bahati had this to say to his followers and the targeted audience:
"DEAR AZIMIO,
Stop misleading the voters of mathare...
Bahati- MP Mathare has not stepped down for anyone!!!
PRESS CONFERENCE AT 2 PM"
He has allegedly been kicked out from the bid after Azimio la Umoja chose Antony Oluoch has their flag bearer. This came into light after the Nairobi Senator aspirant who is also the Secretary General for ODM, Edwin Sifuna said that Bahati will be stepping down for Antony because the latter is their preferred candidate. This was during a meeting between ODM and Jubilee.
During this meeting, Sifuna is quoted saying,
"Here in Mathareit was decided that ODM will field the candidate supported by Azimio and that is the current MP Oluoch. For musician Bahati we will get him a jobin the Azimio government."
"Zoning was done perfectly even here in Mathare we have agreed that its an ODM zone. We only have one candidate in Mathare and that is Anthony Oluoch, this young man called Bahati is my younger brother and we will talk. I will make sure that we find him another position within the Azimio government.”
Bahati has also addressed Edwin Sifuna through a tweet where is asking the mentioned to keep off the politics of Mathere, to mind his own business or else he is set to lose again as it was the case in 2017.
"@edwinsifuna Ushalambishwa mita tatu na my loosing opponent to lie that I have stepped down and “you” will offer me a job in the AZIMIO government??? Unanipea Kazi Kama Nani..? Kaa mbali na siasa ya Mathare , FAGIA KWAKO AMA UTASHINDWA TENA KAMA 2017".
To back Sifuna up, Rachael Shebesh, the former women representative Nairobi County has asked Bahati to step down for the candidate at hand and work with the national government as Tim Wanyonyi demonstrated when he stepped down for Polycarp Igathe to run for the gubernatorial seat in Nairobi.
