The pressure that social media is putting on us as the 'kawaida mwananchi' is immense. Trying to be something you are not is taking the day each day. If you and I are not well informed, we might fall in the trap of hating and undermining ourselves without knowing most people are living a lie out her. Well, Risper Faith who is a Kenya celebrity has been accused and is currently on the spotlight for photo-shopping her facial structure on a photo of the US based curvy digital content creator who goes by the name Ms. Kristine. In the year 2016, Kristine uploaded a perectly shot picture of herself in a black skirt and top that was neatly tucked into the skirt. To add some spice, the whole outfit was groomed by a shade of green coat which perfectly perfected the look. Risper, however took the exact picture, did some editing including darkening the black skirt and top and literally photo-shopped her face into the Kristine's picture retaining all her jewelry! The current Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja's ladder is extremely slippery and his woes seem not to come to an end. This is after Commission for University Education (CUE) revoked his Degree Certificate for the second time.
The commission cites that it lacks evidence that the mentioned honourable pursued his studies from the institution of Teams University in Uganda after investigations. Besides, Teams University had indicated that Sakaja graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Management(External) in 2016 which the commission has established that this course was not being offered at the said time. For this reason, CUE has written to the chairman of the electoral body in Kenya- Wafula Chebukati- in a mission to have him step down from running for the Nairobi County top seat.
Previously, the commission led by Prof. Mwenda Ntarangwi wanted the aspirant to provide these materials for purposes of investigation: Names of lecturers who taught him, graduation booklet, any communication between himself and the university staff concerning his studies, sudent ID, letter of admission, course units and dates studied for verifying instructional hours and workload requirements, transcripts and receipts for fee payments.
From the letter addressed to IEBC chairman, CUE highlighted that and I quote:
"Bachelor of Science in Management (External) is not Bachelor of Science in Management, and it contravenes the provisions of PROG/STD 05 guideline 1 of Universities Standards and Guidelines, 2014, which provides that ‘academic programmes title shall adopt universal nomenclature for similar programmes and shall be short, concise and descriptive of its overall content."
“That in Sakaja Johnson Arthur official declaration in 2017 while vying for the position of Senator, he indicated that the only higher education qualification he held was a degree from the University of Nairobi. There was no declaration made pertaining to Team University, from which he now states that he had obtained a degree from in 2016. The University of Nairobi has since written to the Commission, confirming that whereas he enrolled for a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science in 2003, he did not complete his studies... at the conclusion of these investigations we have not received any evidence from NCHE, Team University or Sakaja that prove that Sakaja pursued studies at Team University and earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Management (External). Failure to submit even the most basic evidence of study and the process of earning a degree inevitably renders the degree certificate submitted insufficient to prove that Sakaja studied either physically or through distance learning and that he holds an academic degree.”
With the concluded investigations, CUE with its capacity wants the Sakaja degree revoked due to lack of authenticity but have noted that the Senator has the right to appeal.
