Hours after Edwin Sifuna and Rachael Shebesh urged Bahati Kioko to step down as the Mathare Mp, Bahati through a press conference rubbished the analogy that was making rounds in the social media for the better part of the day.
Bahati addressed Sifuna and asked him to keep himself off the politics of Mathare and if at all he will engage in them, then, he should keep his name off his mouth. Sifuna being the Secretary General for ODM and not Jubilee Party gave Bahati a chance to write him off by saying and I quote:
"It is very clear that no one has given you the mandate or the powers to speak on behalf of my party, Jubilee Party.
... Kula pesa yako huko kula lakini kaa mbali na siasa ya Mathare ama utashindwa kama 2017 bana. Kaa mbali na siasa ya mathare Mr. Sifuna."
He also addressed Shebesh by putting it straight that she lacked the motherly heart since she is pilling untrue statements against him yet she knows very well that the incumbent has not done much developments in the area including washroom construction and dissemination of bursaries.
He also assured his supporters that no amount of intimidation or propaganda or bribery is going to affect and change the vote and the minds of the people of Mathere , since they are determined to change their leadership.
After this press conference held in the afternoon, the Jubilee Party representatives have come out all guns blazing to protect and distance themselves from anything that Bahati said. Therefore, they have distanced themselves from the Mathere MP aspirant and have declared that they do not have any aspirant in Mathare area under the Jubilee ticket.
This was brought forth by Gitonga Ndegwa, chairman of Jubilee Nairobi County. According to the chairman, they have endorsed the one Antony Olouch as their preferred candidate in Mathere and therefore they do not have any other candidate in Mathare. The chairman also made it clear that Bahati's campaigns have come to an end meaning this is the end of road for the Mtoto wa Mathere.
